The saying "Saturday is a Special Day" is more true now than ever! Yesterday really was a Special Day! I loved every minute of it! I know that most people would have thought of it as just a plain old Saturday of hanging out, eating, organizing, scrapbooking, and running a few errands. To me, it was all of those things but more!
The day was wrapped with conversation both spoken and unspoken. Moments of learning, sharing, and laughing. When I'm with you I get to soak up your energy and amazing example. How lucky am I?
Thank you for always setting aside time for me. Thank you for dropping everything the minute I say I can come down and scrapbook. Thank you for making cookies. Thank you for helping me get all of my scrapbook stuff organized. Thank you for helping me to see my own creativity and showing me how to put it all down on a scrapbook page. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for being my mom...and my friend.
I love Scrapbook Saturdays...and you!
Your daughter,
~Brigitte
p.s. Thanks to Tyler for suggesting I spend the day with my mom! Thanks to my Dad for fixing my computer! I have the BEST men in my life...don't you think?

A Shoe Saga
I'm wondering, have you ever organized your closet and discovered a pair of shoes you had completely forgotten about? They are cute, hardly worn. You discover them and think, how did those perfect little black pumps, ideal for pairing with black slacks and a cardigan on a cold January day, get pushed so far back in the closet that I totally and completely forgot about them? These must be moved to the front of the rotation. They've got to get some time in the lineup. I'm sure I didn't pay good money for these to hang out with the ridiculously bright pink sandals I bought for that cruise and only ended up wearing once. Yes, these are too good to not be worn.
And just like that, you move them to the frontlines. Ready for action.
A few days later it just happens to be that cold January day when you need to pair some great heels that are not too high or stelleto-ish (you might slip in the snow or on the ice) and have a closed toe (wouldn't want to get your feet wet when it's freezing outside!) with those black slacks and cardigan.
Ah ha! The forgotten pumps you just rediscovered. You slip them on as you run out the door and you think to yourself, these are so cute and look so great! Again, why did I forget about these little puppies?
Work is work and you are up and down and up and down from your desk to the copy room, to your desk, to the bathroom and back to your desk. Over and over and then...Noon! Lunch time, my friends. You jump to your feet, grab your coat and bag and head for the door. owe. Owe. OWE! What is going on?
And that is the precise moment when you suddenly remember why these stupid little shoes were clear in the back of the closet! They hurt your feet. They dig into the tops of your feet like a razorblade. They make your arches pound. Your heels ache. Seriously...these shoes suck!!!
You make it through lunch, even after you have to walk further than desired to your eating establishment. You smile. You wouldn't want anyone to think you were "one of those girls." You know the type – the girls that wear things just to look stylish. No way! You are NOT a ditsy blonde that is a victim to fashion!
You are so happy when you get back to your desk where you decide to not print anything you are working on until the next day and you are definitely regretting the three glasses of ice water you downed at lunch. You are not going to jeopardize your feet any further until you absolutely have to. That is in four more hours. You grimace, but press on. And then the bell strikes 5:00 p.m.! Tears almost flood your eyes you are so happy and grateful for this treacherous day to be over.
Hobble. Limp. Whimper. You finally make it to your car and you feel relief is truly in sight. You drive 10 miles and all you have to do next is get out of your car and walk into the house. Your feet are throbbing so bad you wonder if anyone would care if you just hung out in the car. Maybe you should call your husband and ask him if he's been wanting to give you a piggy-back ride ('cause I'm sure that is exactly what he's been wanting to do all day long...just waiting anxiously for your offer)?
Okay - okay. You debate your options and finally decide to just walk into the house yourself. Hobble. Limp. Whimper. Gasp! You think at this point you should just name your shoes Hitler, or Osama, or Satan....anything along those lines is how you feel about now.
And then, FINALLY, you walk through the door and rip off the ugly, black torture chambers you've been sentenced to walk in for the past 9 hours, and throw them on the ground!! You look around for someone. Anyone. For sure whoever just watched you barrel through the door is going to want to hear your shoe store. You just want some sympathy and a serious foot rub. Uh - no one's home! That stinks!! Oh well, you hang up your coat, pick up the aforementioned black items, walk to your bedroom, and place the items right back where you found them a few days before!
Okay, seriously, am I the only one that does that? If they hurt so bad get rid of them, right? Oh no, not me. I think, huh, maybe they won't hurt so badly next time. Maybe if I wear them with a skirt instead. Ya. That's it. I'll give them a rest and find them again in the Spring!
New Year’s Resolution: Give all "forgotten" shoes to D.I. or...better yet...throw them in the trash!! If you wear a size 5 1/2 and the shoes hurt your feet, chances are someone else with the same size is going to find discomfort in them as well.
As soon as I can walk again I am bound and determined to grab those black pumps (and the bright pink "cruise" sandals) and toss them once and for all!!

New Years...
Tyler and I celebrated New Years Eve Day at a movie with some of my family...The Chipmunks: The squeakquel. Definitely a kids show. Tyler was so not excited, but, in the end, admitted it was a cute show. Oh, he liked Theadore the best!
We later had dinner with just my parents, opened our Christmas gift from them (Remember? We were in Idaho on Christmas!), played Scrabble, and...yes...did some pedicures and manicures!! Tyler for sure got the most pampering! But he needed it the most!!
Later we watched a little bit of the New Years Eve countdowns on TV (Our fave being the guy that jumped his car across the bay in California, landing on a barge! My heart was racing! Get it?)
And then, at 10 o'clock...I mean Midnight EST...we rang in the New Year - 2010! None of us wanted to wait until 12 p.m. so we celebrated with the East Coast! Nothing wrong with that. Had fun celebrating, and...got home before all the crazies were out on the roads. We're so darn smart!!
Happy 2010!!!

Christmas '09
Christmas started on the 19th when we went to my parent's house for the Eppley Family Christmas Party. We ate the best soup (Chicken Noodle and Clam Chowder) and home made bread - both made by my mom! It was so yummy!!!
We've stopped drawing names in my family and instead find a charity or a family to support. This year we made blankets for the Nursery ICU at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. We all brought material and for a few hours it was a quilt-making fest! We had material and thread everywhere...but we had so much fun. And of course, football was going in the adjacent room. Yep - food, football, family...and quilting!!! (wish I had pictures...)
We also had a talent show where the grandkids (and Todd) performed. They've got talent! Oh ya, just remembered. I helped the girls sing a little rap song as well. Apparently I've got talent, and no pride, as well! Good times for sure!! My parents always make sure we have a great Christmas, and a great time just being together as a family. Love them.
We drove around Salem Pond on our way home! They ALWAYS decorate it so great at Christmas. Love it!
I was excited to only work 3 1/2 days the following week, but on December 23rd I went to the doctor and found out I had bronchitis. I hate coughing...it's so annoying! I was happy to leave with some medicine that would help though. I called my supervisor at work and gave her the news, she suggested I not come in the next day (we were only supposed to work 1/2 day anyway). So, Tyler and I decided to leave for Boise that night. We arrived at his parents' house at 12:15am on Christmas Eve Day!
After a good nights sleep I was still coughing, but the inhaler was helping a bit! Tyler and I went shopping with his Dad that afternoon to buy a new TV for his office. Apparently he had gone to the store looking for a "regular TV" a few days before. Uh...they no longer make those, he found out. Tyler helped him find a nice new flat screen that will be perfect in his office.
Christmas Eve, Erin, Spencer and kids came over for dinner. We had ham. Yum! I wasn't allowed to help with dinner prep because I was pretty much coughing non-stop, but I did get to eat it!! After dinner we acted out the Nativity with a script that the Pace's have had since the early 80s. It was so cute when they pulled out four boxes of costumes and we all got to choose how to dress and pick a part on the script. Abby was Mary and decided to do her part with an English accent. She's 8!!! It was hysterically precious!

I had been pretty emotional the weeks leading up to Christmas thinking about how I had never spent a Christmas without my parents. I felt like a baby. But, hey, if you are reading this you know me and you know that I wear my heart on my sleeve. It's not like I didn't want to be with Tyler or with his amazing parents, but it still ripped at my heart a bit. So, after the acting out of the Nativity Tyler pulled a box from under the Christmas Tree and handed it to me. It read: To Brigitte, From The Ghost of Christmases Past. When I opened it I realized it was from my Mom and Dad...and immediate got a bit teary. See how great my parents are?? In the box was our stockings with some small gifts in them, slippers and a stuffed Christmas bear. Then, two more wrapped gifts. We opened them, and yeah, pajamas!!! Christmas Eve just wouldn't be Christmas Eve without new PJs. That is so my Mom. Thanks Mom!!! I love you...to the moon and back.
Christmas day was perfectly low-key. Slept in, ate breakfast and then opened gifts. Just me, Tyler, and my other Mom and Dad - who I love very much! I was amazed at how great of a shopper Tyler is. I had no idea!! It was a perfect first married Christmas! After gift opening we went to Erin's house for brunch...and we spent the entire day there. Eating. Playing games. Eating. Watching movies. Eating. Did I mention that the Koefed's Christmas tradition is a table full of food to munch on all day long? We definitely ATE!!!
So now...I can't believe it is the end of 2009! It's been an amazing year. The year I've been wanting to happen for years and years...and years! So happy I'm married!!!
Now that I finally have my best friend by my side, another set of parents and double the number of brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews, I can hardly wait for 2010. I have so many loved ones to share my life with and so many opportunities to learn and grow. Bring on the New Year!!!

Tyler Turned Thirty!
To celebrate Tyler's entry into a new decade - the turning of the Big Three Oh - I wanted to do something big, something special, something he'd always look back on and say, "Man - I loved that birthday!"
And that night I threw him a birthday party! We went to Olympus Lanes bowling alley! It may sound white trash, but we had so much fun! We ate pizza, had a contest for the highest and lowest score and bowled to our hearts content. Seriously - so much fun!!!

Well, I'm not sure it ended up being THAT birthday, maybe on his 35th, but we still had a great time celebrating!
The weekend before his birthday I (with the help of my mom) created a scavenger hunt that led us to a day of fun and just being together; lunch, movie, shopping, dinner and a hotel for the night. It was so fun to be together and feel like we were on vacation, but still be in SLC. I guess that's what you call a "stay-cation."
Then, on Tyler's actual birthday, November 25 (the day before Thanksgiving), I first made him his favorite birthday breakfast - cinnamon rolls and orange juice!
I just have to say that I feel so blessed that Tyler was born. Thanks to his parent's for having "one more." Thanks to them for loving him and raising him to be who he is today. I look forward to celebrating many more of Tyler's birthdays with him...!!! Happy Birthday, Tyler! xoxo

A November to Remember

A WALK IN THE PARK
November started out with a walk in the Park...Park City, that is. Tyler and I met up with Todd's family at Pei Wei's for some lunch and then to see the LEGO® Exhibit "The Art of the Brick," at the Kimball Art Center. It was fun to see what the artist created with the silly little toy that can be such a nightmare to clean up after a child plays with them. Seriously...they are so small and there are so many of them! I'm debating whether or not my children will ever have any of their own, or if I will send them to their cousin's (Dexter) house to play with them. Hmmm? Dexter loved...and probably still does...LEGO'S!! ...so much that for his 10th birthday he and I went to California (Dexter's first plane ride and his first time at the ocean/beach), where we spent a full day at LEGO LAND. That was a GREAT trip! Remember, Dexter?
Oh...back to the present...here are pics of us in Park City.

The boy on the end with the dark hat (made out of duct tape - not sure why) is named Chris. He is a friend of Geoffrey. Christopher (my nephew, not to be confused with Chris the duct-tape-hat-boy, decided to go for a little plane ride with his friend. Hmm...Park City or plane ride??)

After the art exhibit, Tyler and I did a quick stroll of Main Street and then met up with Todd's family again at the outlets. I don't think I bought a single thing. But it was fun to browse. We saw one crazy lady dressed all...skanky-ish...in tight jeans and lots of bright yellow attire. Wish I would have taken a picture. Darn the darn! Those are the moments to capture, right?

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST
Geoffrey was in his first school play this month. He did such a GREAT job!!! Seriously Geoff, you should keep acting. You're a natural! It was so much fun to see him on stage...definitely in his element! Look at that happy face and those proud grandparents.

And this, my friends, is what we found when we got home later that night...

Tyler hadn't come to the play with me because he was shooting a wedding in SLC. It got over sooner than he expected. So, lucky me, he surprised me by being at my parent's house after the play. In the tub...of course! I was so excited I started to cry! I'm such a girl...and a lucky one at that!!! FYI - I love Tyler. =)

Street Taco Saturday
I've always wanted to try them! And, now that I have? I might just go back EVERY Saturday! So good! So cheap!!! And, seriously, what's not to love about sitting on a bus bench on a corner, devouring tacos? I felt like we really were in Mexico...almost...
Okay. Try them out! Tacos el Cunado. Midvale Center Street (7720 South) and 6th West. Seriously. Go! (Not just available on Saturdays. It just happened to be Saturday when we tried them.)
Side note: If you like Tamales you can get them at the Leatherby's just down the street from this taco trailer. Random? Yes. Tasty? Oh Yeah!!!
